Myth about the Joystick Size

But first, there is a big myth about the joystick size, many people say if you use a smaller joystick size your movements will be faster. If you use a bigger joystick size your movements will be slow but they will be more accurate, which is not true by the way.

Joystick Size doesn’t matter

Well, Let me tell you that joystick size doesn’t matter if you’re using 1st layout option. When using a small joystick you must be thinking, that since your joystick size is small, you don’t need to move your joystick far.

But the thing is, it doesn’t matter how far you move your joystick, the speed of your movements will be the same.

For example, Here I just gave a small tilt on the joystick towards the left and this is the maximum speed you can move towards the left. Even if I pull my joystick further away, the movement speed remains the same even with a bigger joystick size, just by moving your joystick a very little amount, you will reach the maximum speed limit.

And you might be thinking, with a bigger joystick you need to drag the joystick far in order to move faster. But that’s not the case here.

Even I used to think the same but it’s not, and sometimes it just gives you illusions that you moving faster when you drag the joystick further away. You can test this out by yourself by making your joystick completely transparent, and asking someone to set your joystick size to either big or small randomly.

And you won’t be able to tell any difference unless you open the settings and look at it. So I hope you understand that the joystick size doesn’t matter.

Joystick Position

And the same goes for the joystick position because, in the 1st layout option, half of your screen is for movement. While the other half is for aiming.

For example, I’m gonna put my joystick at a random location, and yet I still move normally, because of the way how this works. When you touch your finger on the left half of the screen, it will generate a temporary joystick which is invisible of course and it will link all the movements to your real joystick.

By the way, there is no such thing as a temporary joystick it’s just for the explanation to make it easier for you to understand. So there is no such thing as perfect joystick placement because you can place it anywhere you want since the left half of your screen is a huge joystick.

So these are some points of the Best Settings for Joystick Size & Position in PUBG/BGMI.

But why do Chinese players use big joysticks?

And now let’s talk about why some people use big joysticks, especially the Chinese players. So most players who are using a big joystick size are most likely using the 3rd layout option. In which the joystick placement is a fixed button, suppose you use a small joystick size in the 3rd layout option.

Your joystick button will be very small and there is a chance that you will miss the button by a very small distance. And since you are not touching the joystick, it will move your aim, which is quite annoying when it happens.

So this is why you need to have a bigger joystick if you use the 3rd layout option. When with a bigger joystick, still, there is a chance that it will just move your aim instead of a joystick.

Sprint Distance

But the thing that matters a lot is your sprint distance, I wouldn’t recommend putting it too far, or too close to the joystick, it kind-a should be in between. Otherwise, you might sprint automatically when you run. And playing on the 3rd layout option is extremely difficult.

I played for two hours and gave up, it was just harder to play on it and when I simply touch the joystick, it moves, which got me killed literally every single time.

But I know some people play on the 3rd layout option, but why? I know they most likely got used to the 3rd layout option and it feels easy and comfortable.

Why Joystick getting stuck or suddenly it’s not moving?

I can give you two possible explanations for that:-

Explanation 1

The first one is when your thumb finger moves over the edge of the screen, your joystick will stop moving because you obviously not touching the screen, and you don’t realize that. When your thumb finger reaches over the edge of the screen, there is a chance that you might be touching your phone’s bezel instead of the screen.

So your phone doesn’t register the touch and the joystick will stop moving. Even if your finger goes over your phone’s notch. There is a chance that your phone will stop registering touch and stops your joystick movement.

To fix this issue, simply avoid touching your phone’s bezel, or you could place your thumb finger a bit far from the edges of the screen.

And the next one is touch issues, one of the most common touch issues is accidental touch. Your palm most likely touches the bottom edge of the screen which will also register the touch.

Sometimes it might move your joystick to fix this issue, avoid your palm from touching the bottom edge of the screen, or use a thick phone case, or you could put a double-sided tape, near the joystick area, which will prevent your palm from touching the display.

Conclusion
